Stairway to the Stars
We now have an external staircase to the roof. One of the workmen has also indicated that work might commence soon on digging the ground out for the swimming pools. Only time will tell what happens next.
2012 Early Summer Holiday
Hooray - our holiday in Crete is booked for early summer! The Taverna Kastro will be our base when we visit to see how our villa is progressing. Hopefully the villa should be virtually completed by the time of our visit.
Shuttering Removed
Crete is suffering the wettest winter for many years. Despite the weather the builders have managed to remove most of the shuttering, exposing the bare concrete of the main earthquake proof structure. There is still shuttering on the external stairs awaiting the final cement pouring. The site itself is still a quagmire, in fact access to our villa is virtually impossible without wellington boots. The workman were still on site on Friday 11th mainly removing the hundreds of nails used inn the wood for the shuttering. They complained about the weather and stated it was slowing the build considerably.
You Could Hear A Pin Drop
Nothing is happening. Its all been rather quiet at the site for the last week or two. After a few nice days during which the site started to dry out, bad weather has again returned to Crete.
