Hi,
We are Brian and Sue Robertson, and we live in Hampshire, England.
We became married on 31st May 2008, although we have lived together since 1996 It was our second marriages for both of us.
Between us we have five children, eleven grandchildren, also five 'adopted' grandchildren. one wayward female cat, and one easy going male.
Brian was born in Perth, Scotland in 1946, and I was born in Tripoli, Libya in 1956.
Brian has worked for himself as a haulier for over 30 years and spent most of that time covering the Middle East and Europe as he hates driving in England. In between times he's done other things when he's become bored! But he always goes back to trucking!
I've been working for Hallmark cards as a merchandiser since 1996 and that suits me fine, as I could not go back to the standard 9 - 5, and the management roles I had before in commerce and retail. This gives me a certain flexibility which I can often fit around Brian’s work.
I'd never been to Greece or Crete before but Brian had, through his work, and he'd told me that if he hadn't been born a 'jock' he'd have loved to have been Greek!
We had toyed with the idea of buying 'a place in the sun' in other places we had visited, but until Crete nothing had felt right.
So in October of 2006, we put down a deposit for a place in Kyrianna. Initially we had wanted a villa, but as time went on, and the zoning issues arose, and the economy changed so drastically we took the sensible road and downscaled to a chalet, Anyway, this meant no mortgage.
Now we have a plot in Roumeli that is in desperate need of a chalet and a pool to be built on it, and a party to be had on its roof terrace. We already know who we're inviting!
However, even before the first drop of concrete is poured, we'd like to thank all the friends who have helped us along the way, with good advice about just about everything which will hopefully help us to have our dream home built (within a budget of course)
Our last visit to Crete was in September 2009. We are still waiting for out chalet to be built. Hopefully everything will be finished by mid 2010.
